Scene 1
It is a quiet night at a bar. Nick cleans off the bar, and JIMMY, SAM and AARON are scattered about, sitting at various tables, drowning themselves in cheap beer. BILLY is at the bar. It is a slow night, but one they are very much accustomed to. Music plays in the background, but the tune is unrecognizable and irrelevant. This comfortable quiet grows for a while, until KATE walks into the bar, and all heads turn and look at her. She is tall and pretty enough, but definitely down on her luck. She looks around the bar at all the people, rests for a long moment on Nick, who gives her a short look, then tur

Scene 1
The stage is mostly dark. Two beds sit next to each other with a gap that holds a nightstand between them. Moonlight shows in the gap. It is very late. From offstage, we hear the sounds of MOM and JEFF fighting, in loud, angry voices. JOSH is laying on the bed stage left, outside of the covers. His arms are folded, and he stares at the ceiling with the blunt fixation of a 16-year-old. At the end of his bed is a large wooden trunk with a fake lock on it. ROB lays in the bed stage right; he lays on his stomach, with a pillow pulled tight over his head in seven-year-old frustration. After a few moments of

The Smell of Apricots p4 The next day dawned cold and wet. When Tyler awoke, shivered and buttoned up the thin flannel jacket he had been using as a blanket as far as it would go, but he still did not escape the cold that seemed to permeate whatever layer he wore. He shuddered on the couch and stared up at the gray and cracked cieling, trying very hard to think about his new freedom and not about the responsibilites and duties that came with that freedom. Freedom should taste sweet, he thought, not like cold concrete and mothballs. He rolled over and stared at the back of the threadbare couch. He hadn't had these sortsThe Smell of Apricots p4

Exodus Lost - Part IJonathan stood up. He had been sitting with his back against the concrete wall for a couple of hours, just to enjoy the last of the sunlight. Now the sun was hanging low above the treetops in the distance and it was time to go home. He knelt down and tied his boots and picked up his leatherjacket. It was getting chilly and the bats was starting to emerge from the surrounding buildings to begin their nightly adventures.Exodus Lost - Part I
Jonathan put on his jacket and swung his bag over his shoulder. Then he began walking through the alleyways toward his apartment. The wind was playing with old newspapers and discarded plasticbags. He kicked to a r
| If I were a character in a story, I would be the fisherman that exists in a fairy-tale to tell the hero the way to go; I'm one of those plot-device people an author uses quickly then never thinks about again. I'm an opinion waiting to happen. I'm the little voice in the back of your head that keeps telling you to KILL ALL HUMANS I'm the scratching noise you keep hearing from inside your walls. I'm an author, I'm a poet, I'm a mess and a half, I ride the wake of disaster and surf over abandoned hopes and dreams. I'm the hand that taps you on the back and tells you to hide. I'm the raggedy kid on the corner, wearing your abandoned aspirations. I'm the kitten who follows you home at night and waits outside your door, only to leave right before you open it. I'm a circus of hate that smells like poop and sadness. I'm a magical pony that eats rainbows and shits out butterflies and computer chips. I'm a ghost, I'm a mirage, I'm a lover, I'm a hater. I'm a me. Take your pick. |
